jewellery & silversmith wares
The history of the Tunisian jeweller's shop goes back up to the dawn of the Punic era from which it borrows several signs, symbols and forms which still meet today into the current jewels.
This secular craft was enriched by various Roman, Byzantine, Arabic, Turkish and Andalusian contributions which modelled, in various materials, the finery of the woman of their time.
Today, the distinction for a long time maintained between the jewel of rural money and the jewel of city gold definitively became blurred. The variety of the used materials, the reproduction of the centres of production and the evolution of the tastes skinned the jeweller's shop of its symbolic value to keep only its monetary value.
