ceramics

The ceramic is more and more offered to the fields of the imagination and the artistic creation. From the 80s, the artistic ceramic went out of its lethargy and we have registered the beginning of an important activity with the emergence of Tunisian artists trained at the school of the fine arts of Tunis and the school Marsala of Barcelona.

The ceramic Fatimide and Zirîde (IX th century is characterized by a figurative art dedicating the representation of human faces and animals. This art spread in the Maghreb’s countries as well as in Andalusia and in Sicily.

From XVII th century, the Tunisian ceramic undergoes strongly the Turkish influence: the Tunisian ceramists, installed to Qallaline, produce a polychromatic ceramic calling back that of Turkey Ottmane.
