Nabeul is the most important centre of production of mats of rush " smâr ". it produces avariety of ranges of walls (qiyâs ) mats or by mats of ground and of sleeping around ( hsira ) which furnishes the mosques in general.

The basketwork on base of sheets of palm trees establishes an important shutter of the craft of the South; baskets, ranges and hats are the main products. The wicker is used in the manufacture of baskets.
