The art of the pottery and the ceramic is millennium in Tunisia which knows two types of pottery: a pottery turned by the men and the other one modelled by the women: this last one is only found in rural areas; it is essentially utilitarian.

The modelling, the cooking and the decoration of these potteries remained primitive. Lines, points, ciliate lines, teeth of saw, crosses, rhombuses are such motives which remind of tattoos and rural woolen fabrics.
