2010.08.09Evolution of 13.5% of exports of leather and footwear
During the first half of 2010, exports of leather and footwear sector grew 13.5% over the same period in 2009, 471.5 million dinars. Imports also grew by 9.28% from 288.5 MTD at end June 2009 to 315.3 MTD at end June 2010. According to the National Center for leather and footwear (CNCC), the trade balance of 156.2 MTD achieved by complete chains of footwear, the uppers of shoes and leather goods. The same source states that a deficit was recorded at the stream level and leather accessories. These products constitute the bulk of goods imported by enterprises temporary offshore sector.
On the export destination, Italy is positioned at the top with a share of 48.4%, followed by France (28.5%), Germany (11.6%) and Spain ( 2.2%). It should be noted that exports to Italy declined by 2.1 points compared to 2009. On the import side, these four countries maintain their position with 53.2% for Italy, 20.4% for France, 10% for Germany and 4% for Spain.
Finally, totally exporting companies dominate the trade sector with 88.1% of exports and 86.2% of imports. As for local companies, their share in imports is 10.7%, 33.7 TDS. Their share in exports is 50.5 MTD, a coverage rate of 150%.
