2010.03.011.5 billion dinars in the investment industry in 2010
Indicators for the month of January 2010 showed the first signs of mitigating the effects of the global economic crisis on the Tunisian economy, "said Mr. Afif Chelbi, Minister of Industry and Technology, speaking to representatives national media during a press briefing today, 1 March 2010 in Tunis.
The minister reviewed the key industry indicators particularly in terms of engineering industries, the Industrial Modernization Program (PMI) and the energy sector.
The Minister has indicated, on this occasion, the pace of presentation of records filed with the Advisory Committee to the quest for full support or partial State expense to employers because of the crisis has decreased remarkably from 20 cases on average in the 4th quarter of 2009 only 4 cases in January 2010.
Indicators of Tunisian industry expect, adds it to a development under the year 2010 particularly those related to investments that would reach 1.5 billion dinars against 1.4 billion dinars this year past.
Referring to the results of 2009, Mr. Chelbi spoke about the progress of up to 2.5% of the volume of FDI recorded in the industry reached 658 million dinars and on industries including mechanical and electrical (EMI) textile clothing and food industries.

Mobilizing investment of around 100 million dinars with the creation of 1,500 jobs, it is a complex dedicated to the manufacture of aerospace components including the company Aerolia and 7 companies under contract.
The minister also cited the 10 major industrial projects, created in 2009 in 7 governorates located in the inner areas of the country and helped create 7500 jobs, a number expected to reach 17 500 in 2010.
On another level, the Industrial Modernization Program (PMI), generating a budget of about $ 23 million and whose completion marked the year 2009, benefited 1,200 enterprises also launching a new program profit of industrial enterprises, in cooperation with the European Union.
Urging the implementation of a new stage of SMEs, M. Chelbi said that this program will be able to accomplish the objectives of the strategic industry of Tunisia in 2016 especially those related to the technological and export.
With the state's energy sector, the minister said the national hydrocarbon resources have evolved to 7.5 Mtoe in late 2009 when they were only 6.8 Mtoe in 2004, representing 10% increase.
The year 2009 recorded in this context the drilling of 23 exploration wells and development while 27 wells are planned for the current year.
Regarding the year 2010, the Minister reassured that these resources will be brought to 9.2 Mtoe, equivalent to 35% increase compared to figures of 2004.
